Oddly my boss wanted to go to the fun show with me one time. The other hole is unused.Īnyone know where I can get new Filters, and a Canteen adapter (Ideally one that will fit American Canteens)? The front opening is perfectly sized for the M-15's Filter Intake, and "Exhaust/voicmitter, the eye holes align perfectly, and one of the side holes aligns perfectly for the Drinking Tube to screw in. The mask will fit a standard M-6 Gas Mask hood, however the Filter must be removed temporarily while you put it on, then screwed back in once it's on. Now just pull each of the tabs until there snug, clear the mask, and check for leaks.Īs for comfort, it feels pretty good, but if you over tighten the bottom straps it can kind of crush your jaw, and you might have to fiddle with it to get the "ring" around the mouth area to align itself right so the edge doesn't fold slightly, and be a little uncomfortable, my Chin was chafing a bit, but that might have just been from messing with the mask for awhile while I was figuring it out. Next rest your jaw in the bottom area of the mask where it's conveniently cupped for this exact purpose, then jest simply raise the mask to your face, making sure the straps are in the right place, and not bunched up. Next make sure all the straps are loosened as far as they will go, they have convenient tabs on them to prevent them from falling out, and to give you plenty of purchase area to get a hold of them when there behind your head. To don the mask you put the wide plastic strap around the your neck, and wear the mask sort of like a neckless, this strap serves no purpose other than to hold the mask for you, while you get it on your face, basically acting like a third hand. Leaving the "Bite Piece" between your teeth for more than a minute or so is kind of uncomfortable though, and can give you a sore jaw, so it's best to only bite it if you need water, unfortunately though it's kind of hard to reach, and required me to push against the filter, and kind of "reach with my jaw to reach it because it sits in the mask kind of flat, once you get though it's easy to hold on to it. I had no difficulty sucking water through the tube, it was no harder than a standard drinking straw despite the length. The Tube ends in a little "bite Piece" right by your mouth to hold between your teeth, and in order to use it, you have to squeeze the two "triggers" on the drinking tube, if the "triggers" aren't pinched together the Drinking Tube is air tight, handy for changing canteens. I had no Canteen Adapter for the Drinking Tube, but I tried dropping the end in a water bottle to use as a straw to test it, and it was working fine. I tried talking with the mask on, and the voicemitter was working fine, and was quite clear.

I have no idea how old the filter is, but a tried a very non scientific test, and put it on, and tried to smell things, and got no Oder at all, and the air itself tasted "clean".
NBC GAS MASK M15 HOW TO
After a few minutes of figuring out how to don it, I managed to get it on my head, once you get the straps adjusted it was totaly air tight, there were no leaks that I could detect, I tested this by feeling around the edges, and also by covering the air intake with my hand, and trying to breath, I couldn't, and trying was starting to vacuum seal the mask to my face as I inhaled sucking in whatever air was ambient in the mask, then nothing at all, then I removed my hand, took a deep breath, covered the intake, and "exhaust" area of the mask again, and exhaled as hard as I could, I could feel the mask "inflating", and air was forced out around my hand through the "exhaust port", but there was no leakage around the edges. The one I got was (obviously) surplus, and came packed in a clear plastic bag, it included one sealed Israeli Filter of an unknown age, and a drinking tube, but no canteen adapter. So I picked up an Israeli M-15 Gas Mask last week, and thought I'd post a little review.
